A woman in Loudoun County has died after her husband beat her with a hammer.

       The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that Peter J. Lollobrigido, 49, of Sterling, assaulted his wife and struck her with a hammer on Sept. 19 inside an apartment in the 42200 block of Glascock Field Drive.

       Officials said Regina Redman-Lollobrigido, 44, died Sunday night as a “result of her injuries.” They called the case a homicide.

       Her husband is being held without bond and has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated malicious wounding and violation of a protective order following a domestic violence assault, according to authorities.
