TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga on Thursday slammed a director for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Tokyo Olympics after a video circulated online of him joking about the Holocaust, calling the remarks "inexcusable."
Suga told reporters the opening ceremony on Friday should still go ahead as planned, after the organizing committee for the games fired former comedian Kentaro Kobayashi.
The dismissal came just days after a composer working on the event resigned over bullying and abusing children with disabilities in the past.
