HIROSHIMA -- The Hiroshima Municipal Government has decided to temporarily close the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum in the city's Naka Ward for the fourth time since spring 2020 due to the spread of the coronavirus.
The museum plans to stay closed until Sept. 12. According to the municipal government, since many visitors come from inside and outside Hiroshima Prefecture on Aug. 6, the day the atomic bomb was dropped on the city in 1945, it decided to close the museum from Aug. 7 taking into consideration the publicity period.
Visitors can enter until Aug. 6, when the peace memorial ceremony will be held. Lectures from A-bomb survivors and other events will be carried out even after Aug. 7 for groups that have already made reservations.
In addition, the Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, also in Naka Ward, will be temporarily closed from Aug. 7.
