       Osaka and Okinawa prefectures registered respective new daily highs for COVID-19 cases on Aug. 14.

       The Osaka Prefectural Government reported 1,828 coronavirus infections, exceeding the prefecture's record 1,654 cases set two days earlier. The Okinawa Prefectural Government said the island prefecture saw 752 new infections the same day, topping the local high of 732 also set two days before.

       It is the fourth straight day for Osaka Prefecture to report infection figures higher than 1,000.
