Business minister Kwasi Kwarteng spoke to GB News while standing at Nissan's new factory in Sunderland. Mr Kwarteng noted that many people said Brexit would result in Nissan leaving the country for Europe however he argued this was a great opportunity for the UK. Mr Kwarteng was also directly asked by the GB News reporter whether these jobs would be worked by the local community and he was able to give a clear answer.
He said workers from the North East of England will be able to enjoy well-paying jobs as the wages are above the national average.
Nissan has reportedly invested ￡1bn with this move and will create an estimated 1600 jobs.
Mr Kwarteng insisted the people's support of Brexit is beginning to pay off.
He said: "The confidence they expressed in their own country when they voted for Brexit has been justified.

"All those fears, all that angst, all those threats have amounted to nothing.
"Nissan have been here for 35 years and they'll be here for many more to come."
He added: "I think this is a huge benefit for people in the North East.
"Something like 1600 new jobs and they are all going to be well-paid jobs, well above the national average.
"It is a great vote of confidence in the UK, people said that Nissan were going to leave the UK because of Brexit.
"Well, they are not, they are here and they have invested a billion pounds, they are creating thousands of new jobs which people in the North East will be able to do."
Mr Kwarteng reiterated that he believed that the initial Brexit fears had amounted to nothing.
He added that this investment by Nissan was showing great faith in the future of the UK.
"All this investment means the people here are being trusted. Nissan love being in the North East."
"I think this is a unique opportunity to build skills and make us greener.
"They're bringing investment and putting Teesside on the map, there's no doubt about that."
