The Three Lions triumphed to reach their first major final since 1966, beating Denmark 2-1 in extra-time on Wednesday. But anticipant and ever superstitious supporters were worried the night's UK broadcaster, ITV, could be a jinx to the game.
England have won only five tournament games broadcast on ITV since the 1998 World Cup in France.
However, they won 17 tournament games during live BBC broadcasting.
England fans shared their frustration about the superstition as drama unfolded and tension unbearable.
One Twitter user wrote: “Gonna be a tough night as England are not only battling to beat Denmark but also the #itvcurse.”
Another football fan added: “We don’t win semi finals, we don’t win on ITV (except the other day).
“End of the road boys. #itvcurse.”
A third wrote: “Sterling again, absolute hero. Albeit forcing an own goal.
“I really was beginning to think that we'd be done by the #itvcurse again.
