KAWASAKI, Kanagawa -- A resident of this city south of Tokyo was arrested without a warrant on Aug. 31 for the alleged murder at home of his younger sister.

Kanagawa Prefectural Police's Miyamae Police Station arrested 27-year-old Yuya Takasaki on suspicion of murder. He allegedly killed his sister Minami, 24, by slashing her throat using a knife with an about 15-centimeter-long blade while in a room in his apartment in Kawasaki's Miyamae Ward at around 5:20 a.m. on Aug. 31. Takasaki has reportedly admitted to the allegations, and officers are investigating his motive.

According to the police station, Takasaki turned himself in at a nearby police box at around 11 a.m., saying, "I killed my sister." Police rushed to his residence, where they found the deceased Minami covered in blood and lying on her back on a futon.

The suspect lives with their 53-year-old mother. Minami was reportedly visiting on Aug. 30.
