'Macron has not got his act together!' France President savaged over failing jab programme

Financial commentator and economics expert David Buik told GB News how French President Emmanuel Macron has totally failed to get a grip of coronavirus as France is levelled with a host of new travel restrictions. Mr Buik's comments come as fully jabbed travellers returning to England and Wales from France will still have to quarantine from Monday following a surge in the Beta (South Africa) variant in the country. This is despite the easing of coronavirus restrictions from July 19 which will see adults who have received both covid doses not having to isolate for 10 days when they arrive back from amber list countries.

Mr Buik said: “It is an impossible job.

“The relationship with France as we know is not good at the moment.

       “In fact it is awful."

He went on to ruthlessly slam President Macron's incompetence during the pandemic in failing to protect French citizens and spreading distrust and fear over the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Mr Buik said: “I have to say, there is no question or any doubt about it, that President Macron has not got his act together in regards to the vaccination situation in France.

       “There is no clear path!

“I think what has frustrated everybody it doesn’t matter whether it's the economy, whether it is health or anything else - it is the lack of clarity."

He went on to call on the British public to not launch too much criticism at the government over the coronavirus as cases surge in the UK.

The financial expert added: "It is very hard to throw rocks at the government and blame people because it changes all the time.

"Few people would have thought that we would have 50,000 fresh [cases] each day as we have it over here at the moment.

"The great thing is the jab is stopping people from dying apart from a tragic few."

France has seen rocketing cases of the Beta (South African) variant of coronavirus which has seen them plunged into strict restrictions by the British government.

Health Secretary Sajid Javid said: "We have always been clear that we will not hesitate to take rapid action at our borders to stop the spread of Covid-19 and protect the gains made by our successful vaccination programme.
