The Queen's appearance during her meeting with Boris Johnson included a link to Princess Diana, according to royal commentators. Her Majesty was filmed greeting the Prime Minister at Buckingham Palace for their first in-person weekly audience since the coronavirus pandemic began. 9Honey royal reporter Natalie Oliveri explained the meaning behind the Queen's accessories.

       She wrote: "The Royal Family has long used clothing and accessories to send a message during official engagements, often called 'diplomatic dressing' – especially when they are conducting an event in a foreign land.

       "Queen Elizabeth II knows the power a piece of jewellery can hold when chosen for certain events.

       "The monarch wore the Art Deco pearl triangle brooch for her audience with Boris Johnson.

       "Her Majesty's decision to wear a brooch most famous for being linked to Princess Diana has fixed attention firmly on an event happening in London next week."

       The brooch made its most famous appearance when the Queen did a walkabout outside St. James’s Palace on the day before Diana's funeral.

       It was also what she wore for her landmark televised address to the nation about the Princess' death.

       Before that point, the monarch had been subject to much criticism for not expressing grief or emotion around the tragedy.

       In response, she spoke about being both a monarch and a grandmother.

       July 1 marks what would have been Princess Diana' 60th birthday.

       To honour their mother, Prince Harry and Prince William commissioned a new statue to be crafted of her.

       An unveiling ceremony is expected to take place with both brothers in attendance.

       Although the Duke of Sussex is now living abroad, it has been reported that he will travel for the event.

       The statue will be installed in the Sunken Garden within the grounds of Diana's former home, Kensington Palace.

       The brothers "hope that the statue will help all those who visit Kensington Palace to reflect on their mother’s life and her legacy".

       The visit will be Harry's second since he and his family moved to the United States.

       It will also be the first joint event between the brothers in a long time.
