Princess Diana has been praised for her ability to reassure and encourage others, in a new documentary that celebrates what would have been her 60th birthday. Robin Bextor, the director of 'Diana at 60' spoke to close companions of the Princess of Wales and the Royal Family for the special feature, which will be released on July 1.

       For the documentary, Bexter spoke to Hillary Clinton, who had met the Princess on numerous occasions and later attended her funeral in London.

       Robin Bexter revealed: "She had met Hillary at a number of diplomatic events, and Hillary was just full of praise for her poise, her seeking out the person in the room who needed a little bit of encouragement or was perhaps a little shy. She was very generous about her."

       During her time as the Princess of Wales, Diana became an international icon and was always at the centre of intense media speculation. Her charitable endeavours and her tactile approach with members of the public made her an incredibly popular member of the Royal Family.

       Following her death, she was coined as the 'People's Princess' by Prime Minister Tony Blair.

       Robin Bexter also spoke to Diana's former employee, who had hired Diana when she was a young eighteen year old.

       He told Sky News, "The person I was really pleased to talk to was Mrs Robertson, a lovely American who actually employed Diana at the time that the press finally cracked the story that Diana was Charles' girlfriend."

       "She'd employed Diana without knowing she was anything to do with the British aristocracy or anything special. She only realised very late in the day that Diana's weekend, which she knew nothing about, were being held staying at places like Balmoral or Sandringham."

       "When she actually went to clear up something on a corridor and picked up a Coutts cheque book belonging to Diana and she instantly knew ‘oh this is the bank of the Queen, she’s clearly moving in different special circumstances.'"

       "She was so kind and generous about Diana as a nanny."

       The young Diana Spencer worked as a nanny for the Robertson family and also worked as a nursery teacher's assistant for the Young England School in Pimlico.

       She had been born into the aristocratic Spencer family and was the fourth child of John Spencer, Viscount Althorp.

       She met the Prince of Wales during the summer of 1980 when she watched him play polo. At the time, she was only 19 years old whilst he was 30 and he had previously dated her older sister Sarah.

       They married in 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral in a televised service that was watched by an estimated 750 million people.

       The royal couple went on to have two children, Prince William and Prince Harry. They divorced in 1995 after both parties admitted to infidelity.

       Princess Diana died in 1997 in a car crash after her vehicle was chased by paparazzi in Paris. She was only 36 years old and her sudden death brought a period of widespread mourning across the globe.

       An estimated 2.5 billion people watched her funeral, with Elton John repurposing his song 'Candle in the Wind' to sing it live at the service in Westminster Abbey.

       On July 1, the Royal Family will be marking what would have been Princess Diana's 60th birthday.

       Her two sons William and Harry will be unveiling a new statue at Kensington Palace that was commissioned to commemorate the occasion.
