Prince William and Kate are being made into "rockstar-like" figures by the Royal Family's "PR machine", according to a royal expert. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have taken on more responsibility within the Royal Family since the departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle last year.

Royal commentator Ayesha Hazarika said, "William and Kate are really being pushed to the fore in terms of publicity, particularly Kate Middleton."

"I think what the PR machine for the Royal Family is trying to do is turn William and Kate into the new Meghan and Harry."

"They're trying to make them a bit rockstar-like."

As an example of their new PR campaign, CBS news points out their "Hollywood-style" 10th wedding anniversary video which broke tradition with usual royal celebrations.

The 40-second video featured the young family playing in the sand dunes of a beach and toasting marshmallows around a campfire.

Kate and Prince William have increased their public profiles over the course of the pandemic, participating in regular Zoom calls with members of the public and attending in-person engagements.

Last Wednesday, they were seen at Wembley Stadium with their eldest son Prince George, to support England in their football match against Germany.

The royal couple played a key role in the G7 summit in Cornwall on June 11-13. As part of a 'royal charm offensive', the Duke and Duchess hosted world leaders alongside other senior members of the Royal Family.

Kate appeared with First Lady Jill Biden at a primary school in Cornwall, to participate in a roundtable discussion on childhood learning and wellbeing.

She later appeared alongside her husband at an evening reception at the Eden Project, where they were seen conversing with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The couple's appearance at the G7 summit followed their successful week-long tour of Scotland, where they visited grassroots organisations and their former university St Andrews.

They also hosted an evening event for NHS workers, to thank them for their hard work during the pandemic.

Last year, Kate was particularly praised for her Hold Still exhibition, organised with the National Portrait Gallery. The exhibition encouraged members of the public to submit their photography of the pandemic, with the final 100 pictures exhibited around the country on billboards and murals.

Prince William and Kate are now known as members of the 'Marvellous Seven', the leading figures within the Royal Family.

The two royals have had to take on more responsibility since the departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in January 2020.

Harry and Meghan currently reside in California and are financially independent, following their decision to withdraw from their roles as senior working royals.
