Prince Harry and Prince William's joint unveiling of the new statue for their mother was "one tiny step forward" in repairing their relationship, according to a royal expert. The brothers had met in person for the second time since the Duke of Sussex left the UK in order to reveal the memorial for Princess Diana together. HeirPod host and ABC royal contributor Omid Scobie gave insight into the state of their bond.

       He told listeners: "I think no matter how strained a relationship might be, it's impossible to still live in that when you're sharing such a special moment.

       "That was remembering the life of their mother.

       "So the smiles we saw on their faces were very genuine.

       "I'm sure there was a huge amount of warmth between the brothers at that moment simply by the act of what they were doing."

       Mr Scobie continued: "Now does that mean that there were conversations and peace talks taking place on this trip like some were reporting? Absolutely not.

       "That distance that was there with the brothers before the trip, remains there.

       "Harry heads back to the US and William gets on with his life over here.

       "Like with Prince Philip's funeral, that moment we saw the brothers together was just like the ice breaker that had not happened for over a year."

       The host added: "I think what we saw was perhaps one tiny step forward.

       "Time is always a healer, and I think there are things that clearly need to be discussed between the brothers.

       "But time and a place is something you've got to bear in mind too. The unveiling was not that."

       Mr Scobie also noted that sharing that moment together was something the brothers would "never forget".

       The statue has been placed in Kensington Palace's Sunken Gardens.

       This was known to be a favourite spot of the late Princess of Wales.

       The event was massively scaled down with only a few attendees invited.

       This included the statue artist and Diana's sisters and brother.
