Meghan Markle’s ex-husband could ‘barely contain his anger’ after Duchess returned ring

According to biographer Andrew Morton, Trevor Engelson gave a damning verdict of his marriage with Meghan and was furious when she returned her engagement ring. The pair divorced in 2013 and Mr Engelson reportedly claimed he "felt like something stuck to the bottom of her shoe”. Mr Morton made the claim in his book 'Meghan: A Hollywood Princess', where he also said the Duchess had sent the diamond engagement ring back to her husband in the post.

The pair began dating in 2004 and married in 2011, in Ocho Rios.

They divorced in 2013 with Meghan citing "irreconcilable differences".

It was also claimed Mr Engelson could "barely contain his anger" after receiving the engagement ring in the post.

The marriage reportedly came under strain as Meghan travelled between California and Canada while filming Suits.

In contrast, Meghan and Prince Harry married in May 2018 and have since relocated to California.

The pair confirmed their departure from the Firm this year in their bid to become more financially independent.

Since their departure, Meghan and Harry have signed deals with Spotify, Netflix and Disney.

Meghan has also written a children's book, 'The Bench', which was inspired by watching her husband and son, Archie.

The book had become a New York Times bestseller when it was released with the Duchess claiming the story shows "another side of masculinity".

In a statement on the pair's Archewell website, Meghan claimed the story was intended as a love letter to her husband and son.

She said: "While this poem began as a love letter to my husband and son, I’m encouraged to see that its universal themes of love, representation and inclusivity are resonating with communities everywhere.

"In many ways, pursuing a more compassionate and equitable world begins with these core values."

Away from her book, it is thought the Duchess may accompany Harry in September as he returns to the UK for another ceremony to mark his mother's life.

Harry returned to the UK for the first time since his grandfather's funeral this month as he and William unveiled a statue to Diana.

The statue was unveiled in Kensington Palace's Sunken Gardens and was scaled back due to Covid restrictions.

Although Harry and William both were present at the event, royal sources have claimed a larger ceremony is being planned for September.

It is hoped the event in September will facilitate more extensive talks between the two brothers.

Indeed, one source told The Sun, the ceremony at the beginning of this month was a step towards reconciliation.

The added: "It is a step forward but this was not the time or the place.

"September is a date pencilled in for a more extensive celebration of the statue, and Harry will want to return."
