Nigel Farage has warned that the migrant crisis in the English Channel could escalate to unprecedented levels. The GB New Presenter told fellow contributors Paul Embery, Arlene Foster, and Dehenna Davison MP that the number of migrants attempting to cross the channel could reach as high as 30,000 later this year. The former Brexit Party leader recently reported from a boat in the English Channel and encounters boatloads of people attempting the dangerous crossing.
Mr Farage told GB News that the number of migrants attempting to reach Britain could climb into the tens of thousands.
He said: "I could see this problem was getting bigger and bigger, and bigger.
"A few months ago I predicted there would be at least 20,000 migrant crossings this calendar year.
"So far it is 8,900 with 1200 in the last week."
He added "So I feel I am no longer the lone voice shouting in the wilderness.
"People are actually beginning to pick up the sheer scale of this.
"And I have got to say given how big some of the boats are I think it could no be 30,000 this year.
"I'm not joking."

The former MEP has previously expressed his frustration at the British Government's handling of the growing crisis.
He has poured scorn on moves to pay France £50 million to France in order to have the French Navy drop migrant in UK waters.
Reporting from the Channel he told GB News: "Here is the ship, we can see around 25 people on it.
"A French Naval boat shadowing this boat all the way through French waters.

"Keeping very close to it along the way, they have put it over the line to England.
"The French naval vessel has dumped them," he added.
"It would appear that their engine has broken down, whether they have run out of fuel or it is an engine failure I don't know," continued Farage.
"It is a very calm day so Border Force is on their way."
