Out of the 4,078 respondents who answered the poll between 13.02pm July 15 and 9.30am on July 19, an overwhelming 96.5 percent (3,934 people) thought that Harry and Meghan did not deserve the high wage. On the opposing side, just 94 people (2.3 percent) said the royal couple are doing enough work to deserve their generous Netflix contract, and 50 people (1.2 percent) were not sure whether they deserve the pay or not.

       One reader, Candycam, said: “I left Netflix because of this deal with Harry and Meghan.”

       Multiple readers called for a “boycott” of Netflix. Concerned1 said: “Come August when it's time for the renewal of my subscription, I am cancelling Netflix. I've written to Netflix and told them I oppose paying this much money to people who have no talent.”

       In a similar tone, Phlip said: “I have nil interest in either of them. As far as I am concerned, they are completely irrelevant. I would rather watch paint dry.”

       Others felt less enraged by the creative endeavours and financial circumstances of the Duke and Duchess, with Misterwonderful commenting: “Who the hell cares!”

       The Duchess of Sussex reportedly began talks regarding the development of the children’s series back in 2018, two years before her and Harry’s decision to take a step back from their royal duties.

       There has been speculation that the new programme’s titular character, 12-year-old girl Pearl, is based on Meghan as her younger self.

       The storyline will show Pearl embarking on “heroic adventures” where she meets influential women from history.

       This is the second project the couple have announced since their mega deal with Netflix back in September 2020, after the development of new docuseries Heart of Invictus was announced in April this year – a project focusing on the achievements of injured servicemen and women at the Invictus Games.
