Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 'don't care about UK' as Duke's book snubbed by Britons

Royal author Angela Levin, who penned a biography on Harry, said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are only interested in what the US and the rest of the world thinks. Ms Levin's comments come after a YouGov poll found most Britons are not interested in reading Harry's new tell-all book about his life.

The royal expert tweeted: "Harry and Meghan don't care about the UK.

"It's America and the rest of the world that counts."

A staggering 82 percent are not very or not at all interested in reading Harry's memoir, according to a YouGov poll of 5,808 British adults on July 21.

Just 14 percent are fairly or very interested in reading the Duke's book.

However, the Daily Express's royal correspondent Richard Palmer said he expected the book to be a hit as he pointed out that 14 percent of people in the country is still a fairly large number.

He tweeted: "Of course 14 percent is still a sizeable number of people.

"Harry is a controversial figure, highly unpopular with a big section of the public in Britain and abroad now, but I suspect his book will sell well."

The Duke, who quit royal duties with Meghan Markle last year for a new life in California, revealed on Monday he is penning his memoir.

The 36-year-old insisted the book would be an "accurate and wholly truthful" account of his life.

Harry added that the memoir will be written "not as the prince" he was, but as the man he has "become".

He said: "I'm writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.

"I've worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story - the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned - I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.

"I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I've learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a first hand account of my life that's accurate and wholly truthful."

The Duke's book is set to be published by Penguin Random House in late 2022 - as the Queen celebrates her Platinum Jubilee.

Senior royals were reportedly only told about the bombshell memoir shortly before Harry's announcement.

They are likely to be bracing themselves for fresh revelations after the Duke lashed out in his and Meghan's Oprah Winfrey interview in March.

Harry also went on to make further controversial comments about his family in the wake of the TV interview.

Royal author Penny Junor said: "The family must be despairing, this is a man who they all love and he seems to be doing his best to embarrass and damage his family.

"I think it's a bit early to be writing a proper memoir, I imagine it is self justification and it's exploring himself, and finding himself, but it's going to be, I suspect, at other people's expense."
