The future King is currently being educated at St Thomas’ school in Battersea, London. However there has long been speculation he could follow in Prince William’s footsteps, with his father studying at the exclusive Eton College.

       George is said to be “keen” on the idea, though no decision has been taken.

       The young prince reportedly thinks the idea sounds “super fun”, after hearing stories about boarding school hijinks from his father.

       The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are actively considering whether George should attend a boarding school, according to a royal source.

       They told Us Weekly: “Kate and William are open to sending George to boarding school in the future and have already checked out a few, but they feel 8 is a little young and want to wait until he’s slightly older.

       “George going to school is a decision the Cambridges will make as a family.

       “They’d never force George to go unless he wants to and they feel it’s right.”

       However the insider added the prince is “settled at St Thomas’ Battersea and has lots of friends there”, making any move more complicated.

       They added George has become “one of the most popular boys in the class”.

       The prince began attending St Thomas’ Battersea in 2017, and was joined by his younger sister Princess Charlotte in 2019.

       Due to the coronavirus pandemic both George and Charlotte were taught remotely, with assistance from their parents, during much of 2020.

       Speaking to the BBC in April of that year, Kate praised her children’s “stamina”.

       She said: “I don’t know how they get it done honestly.

       “You sort of pitch a tent, take the tent down again, cook, bake [and] you get to the end of the day.

       “They’ve had a lovely time, but it’s amazing how much they can cram into a day, that’s for sure.”

       Kate also revealed she and William made their children carry on doing homework during the school holidays.

       She joked: “Don’t tell the children but we’ve actually kept it going through the holidays. I feel very mean.”

       George celebrated his eighth birthday earlier this month.

       According to US Weekly the occasion was marked with “lots of lovely presents” and a football cake.

       The Prince watched England lose the Euro 2020 final on penalties, against Italy, earlier in the month.

       Speaking to the publication one insider said George is “aware” of his future role as British king.

       They stated: “William’s already explained his future role to him, and he loves learning about his family in history classes.

       “William tries not to overwhelm him with too much information, but George is aware that there’s a lot more to being king than how the role is portrayed in Disney movies and children’s books.”
