The Prince of Wales is fearful Prince Andrews alleged sexual abuses and connections to paedophile Jeffery Epstein will cause major problems for the Royal Family. Sources have said that while Charles has “sympathy” for Andrew, his controversies are “unwelcome”.

A source close to Charles believes Andrews links to Mr Epstein, who died in 2019. Have continued to cause “reputational” risks to the Royal Family.

It comes after Virginia Roberts Giuffre filed a civil suit in the Federal Court in New York seeking “substantial” damages, alleging she was forced to have sex with Andrew on three occasions in 2001 when she was 17.

On Monday, she said in a statement: “I am holding Prince Andrew accountable for what he did to me.”

Andrew has strongly denied any wrongdoing, and has denied having any sexual contact with Ms Giueffre.

He is yet to respond to the lawsuit.

Speaking to The Times, a source said Charles does love Andrew, but has “long ago” accepted the Duke of York’s situation is “unsolvable”.

They told the outlet: “The prince loves his brother and has the ability to have sympathy for the slings and arrows that his brother endures, whatever the reasons may be…

“However, this will be unwelcome reputational damage to the institution.

“He has long ago concluded that it is probably an unsolvable problem.”

Another source, speaking to MailOnline, said the Royal Family are in an “extraordinarily difficult” situation as Andrew’s alleged misconduct has resurfaced.

Andrew could "hole up" in the UK under the protection of the Royal Family, two royal experts have claimed

On US Weekly's Royally US podcast, host Joe Drake claimed: "I have been hearing a lot here in the States that Prince Andrew will likely stay in the UK for possibly the rest of his life or definitely while this is going on so he can avoid questioning.

"Do you think that that's a possibility, that he will just hole up in England for the rest of his life?"

Royal commentator Mikhaila Friel responded to the claim: "Anything is possible at this point, I certainly believe it could be true.

"With the protection of the Palace, I imagine he is in a better position here in the UK."

Express.co.uk has contacted Clarence House and Buckingham Palace for comment.
