After a series of blunders and mishaps from ministers on the frontbench, the Prime Minister wants a clear out to reinvigorate his premiership. Mr Johnson has not held a Cabinet reshuffle since shortly after his 2019 election victory.

       He was widely expected to hold one in January before the third national lockdown plunged his plans into disarray.

       While No10 insists there are currently no plans for a shake-up of Cabinet, Express.co.uk understands the Prime Minister's diary is being kept as empty as possible for Thursday.

       Conservative chief whip Mark Spencer was also seen entering Downing Street yesterday afternoon, raising suspicions he was in No10 to discuss a re-arrangement of the troops.

       A number of ministers have been touted to be ousted from their jobs.

       Home Secretary Priti Patel, Education Secretary Gavin Williamson and Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab are all thought to be at risk.

       Ms Patel was once one of the most popular Tory MPs among Conservative party members.

       However, she has steadily seen her popularity drop after failing to get a grip on the migrant crisis in the English Channel.

       Yesterday a record number of refugees crossed the Dover Strait, with over 1,000 making the journey.

       Grassroots Tory website ConservativeHome put Ms Patel's popularity at just 17.6 percent among party members in its August survey.

       Cabinet office minister Michael Gove has been widely tipped to replace Ms Patel in the Home Office.

       Seen as one of the most competent ministers, No10 is thought to feel his talents are being wasted hidden away from view in his current role.

       Behind the scenes he has been working on some of the biggest issues facing the Government including the fallout from Brexit, combatting Scottish independence, and chairing daily Covid meetings.

       However Mr Gove has also been tipped to replace another senior minister.

       Mr Raab's handling of the Afghanistan crisis has placed the Foreign Secretary directly in the spotlight.

       The Prime Minister is thought to be furious with how he handled the crisis as it unfolded last month.

       He also repeatedly made statements which contradicted with claims made Mr Johnson, throwing the Government's messaging into disarray.

       Previously seen as a safe pair of hands, some now believe Mr Raab is set to be turfed out of his role.

       Some Tory backbenchers are calling for a promotion to Liz Truss.

       After her performance making links across the globe in trade negotiations, some have called for the South West Norfolk MP to take over in the foreign brief.

       Finally, Education Secretary Gavin Williamson is expected to be given his marching orders.

       After the disaster of last year's school results, his botched war on schools closing due to Covid concerns in December, and further grade inflation this summer, the Prime Minister is thought to be increasingly fed up with his Education Secretary.

       He was last sacked from the frontbench by Theresa May when he was accused of leaking matters of national security.
