The prince was attending a reception at a castle in Scotland, according to a source speaking to the Times. It is believed that a small dog, which had been excited by the sight of royal hounds, had almost fallen from an upper-storey window of the castle close to where Prince Andrew was standing.

       The Duke then managed to catch the dog before it leapt from the window to its probable death.

       Many have called the fortunately-timed rescue of the dog by the Duke of York a welcome, positive piece of news for the Queen’s son.

       The Duke of York, 61, is currently embroiled in drawn-out legal controversies which have once again hit the headlines this week.

       One royal source told the Sun: “Andrew has made it quite clear that he wasn't leaving Balmoral."

       Princess Beatrice, Prince Andrew’s eldest daughter, gave birth on Saturday to a baby girl, weighing just over 6lb.

       Buckingham Palace issued a statement over the weekend reassuring the British public that Princess Beatrice and her new daughter were doing well.

       The new-born is the first child of Princess Beatrice, 33, and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 38.

       Princess Beatrice’s younger sister, Eugenie, took to social media to congratulate her sibling.

       She posted on Instagram: “Congratulations on your new angel.

       “I can’t wait to meet her and I’m so proud of you.”

       She continued that they were going to “have so much fun together” as a family.

       In the second half of her caption, she dedicated a note to her “new niece.”

       She signed off with a heartfelt “love your Auntie Euge.”

       Princess Eugenie welcomed her own son with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, in February 2021.

       Princess Beatrice herself tweeted earlier this week a thank-you message to those who attended her at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

       She added that she was “delighted” to welcome her new baby, and it was revealed earlier today that she will have an official title handed down from her father’s side of the family.

       She will receive the title of ‘Nobile Donna,’ which translates to Noble Woman in English.
