The teacher was reported missing when she failed to turn up for work.
Dad Stephen Hodgkinson last heard from her the day she disappeared and said she seemed well at the time.
He told the Nottingham Post: "The last sighting of Alice was on June 29 and I heard from her on June 30 via email.
"There was no sign within the email that anything was wrong. It was a normal communication.
"There's nothing I can do and I am just waiting by the telephone for news at the moment."
Stephen, who lives in Bestwood Village, Nottinghamshire, said his daughter had left Nottingham last March to teach English in Tokyo and was happy in Japan.
In fact, she liked it there so much she decided to stay on for another year.

Alice’s pals and work mates in Japan are said to be concerned over her disappearance and are doing all they can to help.
Stephen said: "There's still no update or news.
"The police are in the process of issuing an official poster and her friends and work colleagues have also got together to make posters and are distributing them as widely as possible."
An appeal to find her has been made on social media by Alice’s brother Peter Hodgkinson.
He said: "I know that the police went round to her home again today (July 5) so the investigation is continuing.
"We have Nottinghamshire Police setting up a link with the police in Japan over InterPol to deliver news and information to us, but this does take a few days to get setup.

"The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office also have an incident logged."
A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said: "We are in contact with local authorities in Japan regarding a missing British woman."
Alice is described as being around 5ft 6in tall and a picture shows her with shoulder-length blonde hair.
A spokesperson from Nottinghamshire Police said: “When a person goes missing who is originally from our area we will always seek to work with relevant authorities and support local families to try and trace them.”
