THOUSANDS of revellers were forced to queue for hours in the rain at Metrofest - which has been dubbed "the UK's Fyre Festival".

Half of the headliners also failed to show up to the "disaster" event at Trent Park in north London yesterday.

The debut festival was advertised as showcasing some of R&B and Hip Hop's "most iconic figures".

American group Blackstreet and singer Bobby V were on the stellar line-up, alongside Fat Joe, Eve and Fatman Scoop.

But many of the 15,000 fans - who had paid up to £95 for tickets - were furious when many of the acts never made it to the stage, and the sets of those that did were cut "very short".

Mya, Eve and Tony Touch failed to show up, and Blackstreet pulled out at the very last minute.

Doors were supposed to open at 11am, but organisers announced this was being pushed back to 12.30pm just 10 minutes before.

Fatman Scoop, who is behind 2000s mega hits Be Faithful and It Takes Scoop and features on Missy Elliott's Lose Control, was due to MC the whole event, but allegedly only came on stage after 7pm.

Among the crowd was Vic Wood, who described the festival as "a shambles".

The music fan, who drove four hours to get there, told The Sun Online: "I should have known when Metrofest failed to release the line up ahead of the event that it was going to be a shambles but honestly my friends and I were just so excited to be going to a festival again and seeing some of our favourite artists.

"However, it was so badly organised, you could hardly hear the music from the main stage and there just ended up being a random DJ playing all day instead of the advertised acts.

"No one told us that the acts weren't available and even the staff we spoke to were totally unaware of what was going on."

       'A SHAMBLES'

She added: "The festival was cashless and we had to load money on to a wrist band which now seems like just another way to con their patrons.

"I strongly believe that organisers should be held accountable for failing to put on the festival that was promised."

Fellow reveller Hayley Alys said her and her friend had been looking forward to the event for months.

But she said: "From the beginning it felt very disorganised. They opened the doors late due to no water in the loos, employees seemed confused half the time and didn't know how to direct you and the whole park was a quagmire.

"We tried to explore early in the day but could barely walk it was so slippy with organisers making half-hearted attempts to put wood chips down in places.

"There was also zero communication so by the time 7pm rolled around, we were still waiting for Mya, Blackstreet, Fatman Scoop... basically most of the headliners.

"By this point I'd seen food vendors shouting at attendees, security arguing amongst themselves and more people falling and hurting themselves than I can count."

It wasn't a cheap day travelling into London, plus food and drink, only to have a glorified Spotify playlist in the mud and rain.

Hayley and her pal ended up leaving early and is now urging Metrofest to issue everybody a refund.

"It wasn't a cheap day travelling into London, plus food and drink, only to have a glorified Spotify playlist in the mud and rain," she said.

Twitter also erupted with complaints from disappointed festival-goers, with many comparing the "nightmare" event to the infamous Fyre Festival.

The 2017 American music show was sold as an uber-exclusive, one-of-kind VIP experience that was sure to be the next big thing.

But, thousands were left starving and stranded when it all turned out to be a sham.

A Netflix documentary about the flop festival showcased its failures, describing it was "the greatest party that never happened".

One Metrofest ticket holder said the event was "actually a joke".

"Blackstreet, Eve, Tony Touch and Mya didn't show," he said. "Scoop was a glorified MC, Bobby V's set lasted 10 mins and Jon B was three hours late. Fat Joe was quality though.

"All in all, this was London's version of Fyre Festival."

       'LONDON'S FYRE FESTIVAL'

Another angry reveller said: "Metrofest = London's Fyre Festival. Have asked Barclaycard to action claim back refund and others should do the same!"

Others blasted the "appalling disorganisation" of the festival and the "inadequate" toilets.

"It should not be the ticket holder's responsibility to have to fetch for basic information, you as an organisation should be providing. We need refunds!" they said.

Another replied: "We need our refunds. VIP section was totally inadequate and toilets were disgusting.

"Security staff were rude and aggressive. Acts not turning up on main stage line up, what a shambles!"

Blackstreet themselves even complained about the organisers, saying they "refused to give us our Covid test results to go back to the States".

The group described the festival chiefs as "terribly disorganised" and accused them of treating the band "like peasants".

The Sun Online has contacted Metrofest organisers for comment.
