VLADIMIR Putin plans to build two new ‘Flying Kremlin' planes which he will use to rule Russia from the skies during a nuclear war.

A source in the military said the adapted Ilyushin 96-400M’s, would be designed to allow the Russian leader to control troops and missiles during any form of apocalypse.

The first of the new airborne command and control plane is now believed to be under construction and would be based on the design of Putin’s current luxury presidential jet known as the “flying Kremlin.”

The planes are designed for the president and other top military, security and ministerial officials.

"The Russian Aerospace Forces will receive two air command posts based on the Il-96-400M,” confirmed the military source.

       “One is now in production.”

The flying Kremlin command aircraft would replace the existing Ilyushin Il-80 Maxdomes which are on permanent standby.

It would also likely include an advanced communication system onboard that would allow it to act as a management centre capable of commanding of troops during combat.

Russian outlet Moskovsky Komsomolets reported: “The aircraft’s radio complex of the aircraft will make it possible to deliver orders to troops, strategic aviation, mobile and silo launchers, and submarines carrying strategic nuclear weapons within a radius of 6,000 km (3,728 miles),”

It’s development has now raised fears that Putin sees the aircraft as the next stage of war preparation as Russia continues to signals its intentions to foreign adversaries.

Earlier this month, three Russian nuclear submarines were spotted sailing through the Baltic Sea for the first time in what was described a "show of strength" as the Americans take part in drills alongside NATO forces in the Black Sea.

HI Sutton, a defence analyst, told The Telegraph: "They are the only nuclear submarines in the Baltic.

“These deployments act as a show of strength for both home and foreign audiences.

"NATO and unaligned Baltic States will likely keep a careful eye on this submarine."

Russia then clashed with the US weeks later over their development of hypersonic missiles which officials warned could lead to "inadvertent conflict.”

Washington Pentagon Press Secretary John F. Kirby said that Russia’s testing of the deadly Zircon which was recently unleashed of the northwest coast of Russia would pose “significant risks because they are nuclear-capable systems."

The target more than 220 miles away was hit in the Zircon's first state trial and the missile's "tactical and technical characteristics were confirmed”, reported state-owned RIA Novosti and Defence Ministry TV channel Zvezda.

A Kremlin leader has called the Zircon missile “truly unparalleled in the world”, and the Russians have boasted it is “unstoppable” by Western defences.

A key use of the missile is taking out enemy ships and reports suggested its maximum range is between 188 and 620 miles.

It is one of a number of hypersonic missiles Russia is developing including the 188-tonne Sarmat - known in the West as Satan-2 and the biggest beast in Russia’s nuclear arsenal, due for tests in the autumn, and to go into service next year.
