A MUM fears it's only a matter of time before her new-build house will crumble "like a biscuit" due to countless faults.

       Jayne, 58, bought her ￡300,000 Taylor Wimpey home in Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, with her husband James, 63, last year.

       But she has been left "depressed and embarrassed" with the state of their dream retirement property after discovering more than 30 faults.

       She claimed the building firm - who she dubbed "Taylor Wonkey" - "don't care about people's feelings", with many of the faults still unresolved.

       Taylor Wimpey said they are "closely engaged" with the couple and are working on fixing the issues.

       On moving in, Jayne reported a hump in the floor in the living room and builders were sent out to investigate.

       When the workers lifted up the carpet, she was left "absolutely shocked".

       She said: "There were massive cracks all over the floor. You walk on the floor and ornaments on the fireplace rattle.

       "They said they would stitch the floor in places with mesh - but there is no mesh in some areas at all, and in other places it is too far down."

       Jayne and James then discovered the house is on a giant concrete slab, and Jayne stressed it is "only a matter of time" before something more serious happens if it isn't checked.

       She said it is like having the entire house "on a biscuit" with the "whole base on one slab".

       "If one crack goes they all will," she added.

       "We bought ￡24,000 worth of extras because of Covid. We didn't want every Tom, Dick and Harry coming in the house.

       "But because of the issues, there has been.

       "I have had to live with it, I am on antidepressants. I had a chemical accident 11 years ago, I have lung damage and there's loose concrete dust in the air.

       "I am very depressed. I am so embarrassed, people on the site know, I have only told a couple friends.

       "Taylor Wimpey don't care about people's feelings," she said.

       Pictures show the garden flooded, precariously placed roof tiles and faulty finishings.

       The property builder indicated it wasn't aware of some of the complaints from the couple.

       A spokesperson added: “At Taylor Wimpey, we are committed to delivering homes of the highest standards and to providing excellent customer service.

       "We have acknowledged this resident’s complaint and understand the issues outlined may fall short of our usual expectations.

       "We have always looked to do the right thing and are closely engaged with this resident to resolve their concerns as soon as possible."
