THE Taliban have hung the dead bodies of "criminals accused of kidnapping" from a crane in the middle of a busy square in Afghanistan after a bloody execution.

Witnesses say four bodies were dragged to a square in Herat before one was hung on a crane. Three were moved to other parts of the city for public display.

Wazir Ahmad Seddiqi, who runs a pharmacy alongside the square, said the men were hung after being accused by the Taliban of taking part in a kidnapping. They were killed by the police, according to AP.

Harrowing footage shared online shows one man dangling from a noose that's attached to a crane.

A mob of men scurry around the body and begin shouting and taking photos of the bloodied corpse.

Ziaulhaq Jalali, a Taliban appointed police chief in Herat, said the Taliban had rescued a father and son who had allegedly been abducted by four kidnappers after a shoot-out.

He said one Taliban fighter and a civilian were wounded by the kidnappers but "the four (kidnappers) were killed in crossfire".

The Taliban have not yet released the identities of the men.

This comes as Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, one of the Jihadi militant's founding fathers, said the group would once again carry out executions and amputations of hands.

Speaking to the Associated Press he said: "Everyone criticised us for the punishments in the stadium, but we have never said anything about their laws and their punishments.

Since the terrorist group seized power in Afghanistan, the world has been waiting to see if the strict rules of the 1990s will return.

It already appears that the Taliban have started imposing their own interpretation of Islam.
