Girl, 9, dies after suffering ‘medical emergency’ at house in Bridgend

       A SCHOOLGIRL has died after suffering a medical emergency at a home in Wales.

       The youngster, nine, fell ill at the property in Bridgend yesterday evening.

       Teams of medics were among the emergency services to respond in Trem Y Castell, Coity, at 6.10pm.

       An air ambulance was dispatched, as well as an urgent care doctor, the hazardous area response team and a road ambulance.

       The casualty was flown to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

       However, despite the efforts of doctors, she couldn't be saved.

       Cops based in South Wales are investigating on behalf of the coroner.

       The tragedy is not being treated as suspicious.

       A spokesperson from the force said: "Shortly before 6.20pm on Sunday, September 12, South Wales Police was called to a medical emergency involving a young girl at an address in the Coity area of Bridgend.

       "The girl was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, and despite best efforts has died.

       "The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and South Wales Police is acting on behalf of HM Coroner.”

       A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called to a medical emergency at a residential address in Bridgend at 6.12pm on Sunday, September 12.

       "We sent the Wales Air Ambulance, an urgent care doctor, the hazardous area response team, and an emergency ambulance.

       "One patient was taken by road to University Hospital Wales, Cardiff."
