A MOTHER was left horrified after she spotted fly eggs on a Domino's chicken wing before one of her children ate it.

Kat Lecheminant-Pay said that she felt “disgusted” by the discovery - with the takeaway giant Domino's later confirming fly eggs were found.

The company has since apologised to the family and says it takes food hygiene "very seriously".

However, the mother-of-two from Hanover, Brighton was left "dissatisfied" with Domino's response - so contacted the Environmental Health Service at Brighton and Hove City Council.

A council spokesman confirmed that food safety officers visited the branch on September 1 after receiving Kat’s complaint.

While he acknowledged it'd be inappropriate to comment while an investigation is ongoing, he said: “We take all complaints very seriously and work hard with our local businesses to ensure the highest possible food hygiene standards are met and that they are doing everything reasonably expected to keep food safe for consumption.”

The Domino's branch in London Road, Brighton was given the highest possible food hygiene rating of five - based on its last inspection in March 2019.

Kat spent £45 on the meal as a treat for her sons, eight-year-old Leighton and nine-year-old Riley.

She expressed her relief in spotting the fly eggs in the chicken wings before one of her children ate one.

Kat said: “I know what fly eggs look like. I used to have a cat that would leave its food all the time and if flies went on it, they laid eggs and that’s how I know.

“I threw the wing back into the box and I felt so sick.

“Everything is meant to be made fresh, but you just never know. I’m a bit worried.”

The Sun Online has contacted Domino's for comment.
