SHAH ALAM (Bernama): Police have arrested six men and a woman for attending a birthday celebration in violation of the movement control order at a luxury condominium in Section 7 here.
Shah Alam district police chief ACP Baharudin Mat Taib said five of them tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
He added that the seven, aged between 21 and 37 years, were nabbed on Tuesday (June 22) after police received a complaint from the public.
He said in a statement on Wednesday (June 23) police also seized five packets believed to contain syabu weighing 4.42g and one packet containing yaba pills weighing 0.72g.
Baharudin said seven compound notices of RM4,000 each were issued to them for violating standard operating procedures under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (No 2) Regulations 2021 (Movement Control No 2 Regulations) for attending a gathering that made physical distancing difficult.
He said the suspects, all Malaysians, have been remanded for four days from Tuesday for further investigation under Sections 12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama
