PUTRAJAYA: One locality in Kelantan and two in Sabah will be placed under the enhanced movement control order beginning Friday (June 25), after health authorities recorded high positivity rates for Covid-19 in those areas.

In Kelantan, Kampung Pulau Tukang Dollah in Kota Baru will be placed under the order after 41 individuals tested positive from 63 screenings carried out on the villagers. The locality has a positivity rate of 65%.

In Sabah, Kampung Tambulion Ulu in Kota Belud will be under enhanced MCO after 10 Covid-19 positive cases were reported.

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said health authorities also recorded 18 confirmed cases in Kampung Kukut, Beaufort.

“Following a risk assessment, the government has agreed to place these localities under the enhanced MCO for 14 days until July 8 to allow health authorities to carry out screenings and control the movement of people in the affected areas to prevent infections in other areas,” he said on Wednesday (June 23).

Ismail Sabri said the order that was earlier placed on several localities in Sabah and Labuan has also been extended.

The extension, taking effect from Thursday (June 24) to July 7, will involve Kampung Likas in Kota Kinabalu and five sub-zones in Labuan where 1,632 confirmed cases were reported from 8,682 screenings.

Meanwhile, the enhanced MCO enforced on Kampung Kutan Tengah and Kampung Ketil in Tumpat, Kelantan will be lifted on Thursday as scheduled.
