GEORGE TOWN: At least nine monkeys have been poisoned, with their carcasses found by the hillside in Paya Terubong in George Town.
It is believed that the monkeys ate bread that was laced with poison.
Area residents who feed the monkeys regularly made the grim discovery at about 6.30pm on Saturday (June 26) and expressed their outrage over the act.
A resident, who declined to be named, said that officers from the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) took the carcasses for testing on Sunday (June 27).
A police report has also been lodged over the incident.
