PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed the quarters concerned to adopt a realistic approach for providing scholarships to the students under the Frontier Education Foundation (FEF).
Chairing the 39th meeting of FEF board of directors at the CM House here on Friday, the chief minister ordered for constitution of a committee comprising the board members and to be headed by special assistant for higher education Kamran Bangash.
According to a statement issued here, the committee would review the matter and submit final proposals regarding distribution of FEF scholarships among the students at the divisional and district level and selection of higher educational institutions for the purpose.
The chief minister stated that the ultimate goal of these scholarships was to produce talented leadership in different sectors by providing opportunities of quality higher education to the students.
He said special attention should be given to the overall business plan of the foundation and to increase its efficiency in the larger interest of the students.
Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagara, CM’s special assistant on higher education Kamran Bangash, administrative secretaries of concerned departments, advocate general, FEF managing director and its board members attended the meeting.
The forum confirmed the minutes of 38th meeting of the board of directors.
The board confirmed the FEF managing director and accorded approval to continuation of his services till appointment of a regular MD.
It was directed to advertise the post of regular MD in accordance with the relevant rules and complete the recruitment process within next three months.
The concerned committee was directed to review the budget estimates of the foundation and come up with final proposals for approval.
The forum also agreed to the need of construction of the head office building for the foundation.
The BoD approved creation of the post of budget and accounts officer in the foundation’s head office and confirmed extension of two years in deputation period of employees of the FEF colleges.
