PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed the authorities concerned to define the mandate, jurisdiction and functions of all the line departments to avoid duplication in execution of projects and wastage of funds.

       He issued the directives while chairing a high-level meeting of the administrative secretaries of the local government, communications and works, planning and development, irrigation and public health engineering departments here on Sunday, according to a statement.

       The chief minister said by avoiding duplication of work would ensure effective and meaningful use of public money on welfare projects.

       Mahmood Khan directed the planning and development department to come up with solid proposals and guidelines within one month in consultation with the relevant departments.

       It is pertinent to mention here that presently there is duplication of work by the departments in schemes like drinking water supply, street pavements, streetlights, sanitation and other municipal services, and in some cases more than one department is found to be carrying out the same activities which creates complications.
