KUCHING: Sarawak's new Covid-19 cases increased to 544 on Thursday (July 1) after recording less than 400 cases in the previous two days.
The state disaster management committee said Kuching had the most cases with 118, followed by Tebedu (63), Sibu (58), Bintulu (56) and Miri (43).
Another 26 districts recorded between one and 41 cases each to take the state's cumulative tally to 65,395.
"There were two imported cases involving individuals returning from Indonesia and three cases involving individuals returning from other states in Malaysia," the committee said in a statement.
There were also four new fatalities, bringing the state's death toll to 413.
Among them was a 32-year-old woman who was brought-in-dead to Miri Hospital and had no comorbidities, the committee said.
The others were a 35-year-old woman with obesity who died at Sibu Hospital and two men aged 70 and 71 with various comorbidities who died at Miri Hospital and Sibu Hospital respectively.
The committee also said a new cluster in Kuching stemmed from a funeral at Kampung Siol Kandis.
"The Lorong 3 Kampung Siol Kandis cluster involves several families who attended a funeral from June 2 to 4 followed by a prayer ceremony on June 12.
"A total of 123 individuals have been screened, of whom 45 tested positive," it said.
The committee added that the Jalan Haji Lampam cluster in Miri was declared to have ended, leaving 95 active clusters in the state.
