MELAKA: Vaccinations for the hospitality and tourism players will be considered under the third phase of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), says Khairy Jamaluddin.
The minister in charge of the National Covid-19 Immunisation programme said that the current focus is getting those in the manufacturing sector vaccinated.
“Melaka Chief Minister (Datuk Seri Suliaman Md Ali) has shown concern on restarting the tourism industry and I pledge into looking into the vaccination programme for this group in the third phase,” he said after attending the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) meeting at Seri Negeri here on Tuesday (June 29).
Khairy noted that Melaka has received 200,000 vaccine doses since February and the volume would increase to 368,000 doses in July.
He said with the increase, the capacity of inoculation would gradually reach 13,000 doses a day compared to an average daily dose of 7,000, currently.
Khairy said the rapid vaccinations will also be complemented with the opening of more mega, private hospitals’ vaccination centres (PPVs) as well as general practitioners PPVs.
“We will also hope the vaccinations for factories are expedited with the opening of the Industrial PPV,” he added.
