PETALING JAYA: All individuals who test negative for Covid-19 at Mentari Court will be vaccinated from Sunday (July 4).

Petaling District officer Datuk Johary Anuar said this is the first time that vaccines will be given at an area under an enhanced movement control order in Selangor, as the aim is to curb the spread of the virus effectively.

"Mentari Court has more than 17,000 residents in 3,469 housing units. So far, we have detected 500 positive cases at the area.

"We will distribute the vaccines at Mentari Court itself. All residents, including foreigners will be given vaccines," he told reporters outside Mentari Court on Thursday (July 1).

Mentari Court will be the pioneer project for vaccine distribution at an enhanced MCO area, he added.

Johary said the enhanced MCO at Mentari Court began at 12.01am on Thursday following the announcement by Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on June 29.

"The state government will distribute food aid to all residents on the first day of the enhanced MCO. Food aid will be given continuously to ensure a sufficient supply for the residents," he added.

Among those present were Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid, Petaling Jaya MP Maria Chin Abdullah and Petaling Health Office medical officer Dr R. Sudeash.
