ISLAMABAD: With lockdown restrictions easing, a slight increase in the Covid-19 positivity ratio was seen in the capital as it reached 3.7pc on Friday from 1.9pc reported on Thursday. As many as 37 people recovered from the disease.
Officials of the capital administration said 73 new cases emerged against the 1,956 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. On Thursday, 54 people were found infected out of the 2,808 tests.
As many as 46 of the new cases were male and 27 were female, the officials said, adding 17 cases were reported in the age group of 20-29 followed by 16 in 30-39, nine in 0-9, seven each in 40-49, 50-59, six in 10-19, five in 60-69, 70-79 and one in 80 and above.
Out of the 986 active patients, 53 are admitted to hospitals, 49 are on oxygen support and four on ventilators whereas the rest are isolated in their houses.
Meanwhile, one person died of Covid-19 and 33 people tested positive in Rawalpindi district. As many as 10 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the disease in the last 24 hours.
The deceased was identified as Asima Hussain, 49, a resident of Taxila. She was brought to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on July 1. There are 196 active patients in the district currently.
As many as 79 patients are in hospitals, including 21 who arrived from other districts, and 117 patients are home isolated.
Most patients were brought from the garrison city: six from cantonment areas, 10 from Potohar Town and eight from Rawal Town. Two patients arrived from Gujar Khan, one each from Kallar Syedan and Murree and three from Taxila.
Fifteen patients were admitted in Holy Family Hospital, 10 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, nine in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and 11 in Fauji Foundation Hospital.
One patient is on a ventilator, 35 are on oxygen support and nine are stable. According to the District Health Authority, 746,009 people have been vaccinated so far, including 714,463 residents and 31,546 frontline health workers.
