KULAI: An electronic component manufacturing factory at the Senai industrial area here has been ordered to close for a week after it did not follow the standard operating procedure during Phase One of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said besides the closure order, the factory’s management also got a RM10, 000 compound following an inspection during Ops Patuh.

“We found that the factory failed to ensure the one-metre social distancing among its workers, which is an offence under the SOP.

“We ordered the factory to close for seven days starting July 2, which will give them time to redo the distancing and to ensure their workers follow it, ” he said after yesterday’s operation.

He also said that the compound and closure order were issued under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

Supt Tok added that among the agencies involved in Ops Patuh were the police, state Health Department, Safety and Health Department and Kulai Municipal Council.

“We will continue with Ops Patuh to make sure all factories and business premises around here follow the SOP to curb the spread of Covid-19, ” he said.

On June 21, the National Security Council’s special meeting decided the Home Ministry would lead and coordinate all aspects of enforcement related to SOP compliance during the NRP.
