KUALA LUMPUR: Several localities in Kelantan and Sabah will be placed under the enhanced movement control order from tomorrow.

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the areas included Kuarters Ladang Lepan Kabu (A & B) and a portion of Kampung Pahi (bordering Kuarters Ladang Lepan Kabu) in Kuala Krai, Kelantan.

“Eighty individuals were screened and 18 of them were found to be positive, pointing to a high rate of infectivity there,” he said in a statement yesterday.

In Sabah, two localities to be placed under the enhanced MCO are Kampung Jambatan Baru in Membakut, Beaufort and Blok 6, Kampung Titingan in Tawau.

“At Kampung Jambatan Baru, 20 screenings were conducted and 17 turned out positive, recording an 85% positivity rate.

“At Kampung Titingan, 17 screenings were carried out, with nine cases detected, showing a positivity rate of 52.94%.

“After a risk assessment, the government agreed to implement the enhanced MCO at these localities from July 6 to 19,” he added.

Ismail Sabri also said that the enhanced MCO at two villages in Sabah, which was scheduled to end today, would be extended from tomorrow until July 19.

One of them is Kampung Jaya Baru in Kunak, which has to date seen 529 screenings with 46 cases detected.

“The Health Ministry has confirmed that cases are still spreading within the community,” he added.

Another village is Kampung Serudung Baru in Tawau.

“A total of 186 screenings were conducted there, with 65 cases detected,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said 651 individuals were compounded while 38 others were remanded for violations of the MCO on Saturday.

The violations were not wearing face masks (91), interstate/inter-district travel and dining in (189), failure to register before entering premises (78), ferrying too many passengers (49), no physical distancing (133), not complying with movement restrictions (63), failure of premises to comply with orders (21), entertainment outlet activities (six) and 61 other offences.

He said the compliance operations task force led by the police conducted 89,136 checks, including on 5,785 factories, 15,388 business premises, 569 construction sites and 297 workers’ dormitories.
