PETALING JAYA: Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin has denied asking the Dewan Rakyat Speaker to reconsider a hybrid parliament model.

In a Twitter post, Radzi said a satirical post about the matter was being misconstrued as real.

“The trend of spreading slander on the grounds that it is just a joke or parody is becoming more widespread,” he tweeted on Wednesday (July 7).

Radzi was commenting on the viral post that claimed he said: "Not every MPs has the necessary equipment and reliable Internet connection at home. MOF must allocate sufficient funds to MPs for laptop purchase."

On July 5, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement that a special sitting of Dewan Rakyat will be held for five days from July 26, while the Senate will reconvene for three days starting Aug 3.

The special sitting aims to brief all MPs about the National Recovery Plan, and to amend all legislation and rules to enable the Parliament sitting to be held in a hybrid manner.

The PMO also said in accordance with Clause 3 of Article 150 of the Federal Constitution, the Proclamation of Emergency and emergency ordinances, promulgated by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, shall be laid before both Houses of Parliament.
