KAJANG: Police have launched an investigation after a tweet alleging a policeman at a roadblock had solicited a bribe.

       Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said the post on Twitter was uploaded on July 15 but has since been deleted.

       He said a police report was lodged on Friday (July 16) after a photo of the policeman in uniform was uploaded with allegations that he had tried to ask for cash.

       “This has tarnished the image of the police force,” he said in a statement.

       ACP Mohd Zaid said police were tracing the uploader, who goes by the username zulhelmiismail to assist the investigations.

       He added that while investigations were ongoing under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities or network service, the police Integrity and Standard Compliance Department would also conduct its investigation to identify any wrongdoing by the policeman.
