KOTA KINABALU: Efforts including increasing the doses of vaccines at vaccination centres statewide are being implemented to speed up the immunisation rate in Sabah, says newly appointed state Health director Dr Rose Nani Mudin.

She said the department has 26,000 healthcare workers and facilities ready to ensure vaccination goes as planned.

“We have also seen the vaccination process improved and supply of the vaccine increased,” she said during a media briefing.

Dr Rose said to make vaccination procedures smoother, clinical examinations had been simplified whereby only those with health issues would be given physical check-ups at the vaccination centres.

“We hope to see the immunisation progress hastened as we try to achieve our target of getting 80% people in Sabah vaccinated,” she said.

Dr Rose also reminded all healthcare workers, especially those working in rural and interior areas, to take care of their physical and mental health as well as personal safety.

“Staff with problems should seek help from their superiors immediately so that whatever issues faced will not deteriorate and affect the fight against Covid-19, as well as disrupt the teamwork in this battle,” she said, adding that teamwork was very important during these trying times.
