PETALING JAYA: The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) is working with the authorities to investigate alleged wrongdoings during vaccinations under the immunisation programme.
It added that it will not hesitate to end the services of personnel found to be involved in misconduct when vaccinating others.
“The CITF views the viral allegations concerning the Covid-19 jab administration at vaccination centres seriously.
“As such, the CITF is now working with the authorities, such as the Royal Malaysia Police and the Malaysian Armed Forces, who are conducting investigations into the matter so such incidents will not occur again,” the CITF said in a statement on Monday (July 19).
The CITF clarified that there were allegations that a drive-through vaccination centre was specially reserved for personnel of the Malaysian Armed Forces and their family members only.
It was alleged that the incident took place on Saturday (July 17) in a drive-through vaccination centre at Kem Lapangan Terbang Sungai Petani, Kedah.
It was alleged that the vaccination at the centre was carried out by personnel of the Casualty Receiving Station based at the camp.
“An investigation is being conducted by the Malaysian Armed Forces concerning the incident, in which the individuals who are involved will be called to give an explanation.
“Disciplinary action has been taken on the vaccination personnel,” the CITF said.
The CITF is also investigating two reports of empty syringes being used during vaccination.
One case allegedly took place at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre on July 17, which was reported by a member of the public.
The other case allegedly took place at the Bangi Avenue Convention Centre on Sunday (July 18), and a report was made by the healthcare officer there.
“The police are currently conducting an investigation into the matter. Any development will be announced by the authorities.
“The CITF will not hesitate to end the service of the personnel involved if they are found guilty and will take stern action following the provisions of the law.
“As per the standard operating procedure, vaccination personnel must show a full syringe to vaccine recipients before inoculation.
“The public is also urged to look at the syringe before and after the vaccination process to have confidence that the vaccination took place as it should,” the CITF said.
