PETALING JAYA: There are 18 new Covid-19 clusters in the country, 13 of which are linked to the workplace, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

       The Health director-general said with the new addition, the country has recorded 3,299 clusters since the beginning of the pandemic.

       Out of the 13 new workplace clusters, four are in Selangor, three in Johor, two in Kuala Lumpur and one each in Kelantan, Melaka, Negri Sembilan and Terengganu.

       “There were also 93 new Covid-19 related deaths, 31 of which were recorded in Selangor,” he said.

       Deaths were also recorded in Johor (16), Melaka (nine), Kedah (eight) Pahang (seven) as well as five deaths each in Penang, Negri Sembilan and Perak.

       There were two deaths each in Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and Sarawak and a single death in Terengganu.

       Out of the 93 deaths, 10 cases were brought-in-dead in Selangor, Melaka, Kedah and Sabah.

       The pandemic has so far claimed the lives of 7,241 people in Malaysia.

       Dr Noor Hisham also said as of July 19, the R0 (R-naught) value was 1.14, with Terengganu recording the highest value at 1.3.

       Perlis, which has two new cases, has an R0 of zero.

       Dr Noor Hisham said there were now 133,703 active cases in the country, with 924 patients being treated at the intensive care units and 448 patients placed on ventilators.

       He said at the same time, 7,567 people have recovered from Covid-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 798,955.
