PETALING JAYA: There will be stricter checks at roadblocks along the Selangor border to prevent balik kampung attempts for Hari Raya Aidiladha.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said they believe some people will try to return to their home towns.
“I have instructed all roadblock personnel to perform stringent checks to prevent unauthorised travel.
“We will also step up our mobile roadblocks in the state,” he said when contacted yesterday.
There are currently 120 to 140 roadblocks in Selangor which Comm Arjunaidi says is sufficient.
“It won’t be increased, instead we will focus on doing stringent checks.
“We will take action against those who do not comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP),” he said.
The Selangor police compliance operation task force will also increase its rounds.
“Teams have been deployed in the state. They will also be (deployed) during Hari Raya Aidiladha,” he said.
Comm Arjunaidi advised the public to comply with the SOP and not try to return their home town.
“Our goal is to break the chain of infection. We hope the public can cooperate. Let’s stop the spread of the virus together,” he said.
