PETALING JAYA: The craving for nasi ganja made a customer from Kuala Lumpur go to great lengths, or rather heights, to get the popular fare from Ipoh via a helicopter.

       Sinar Harian reported that a helicopter landed at Padang Ipoh on Friday (July 23) morning to pick up 36 packs of nasi ganja ordered by a customer from Kuala Lumpur.

       A spokesperson for the nasi ganja restaurant, who did not wish to be named, said the restaurant had received orders for 36 packets of rice with chicken, meat and salted eggs and was told the order would be collected using a helicopter.

       "I was a bit skeptical because there have never been customers who collected orders by helicopter but it turned out to be true.

       "The price of each pack remained at RM10," he told the Malay daily.

       Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid revealed that despite the aircraft only being allowed to land at Sultan Azlan Shah Airport, it had touched down at Padang Ipoh between 9.55am and 10.15am to pick up the order.

       Comm Mior Faridalathrash added that the police had informed Ipoh Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia on the matter.

       He also said the police will investigate whether the people in the helicopter have permit to cross states borders.

       More widely known as nasi kandar, nasi ganja got its name for its apparent addictiveness. This Malaysian rice delight is whipped up by the Indian Muslims in the northern part of peninsula Malaysia.
