JOHOR BARU: Some 90% of Johor's adult population is expected to be fully vaccinated by the end of September, says Khairy Jamaluddin.
The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister said this was due to an increase in the number of Covid-19 vaccines deployed to the state, as well as the opening of several new vaccination centres (PPV).
"Currently, the 259 existing PPVs in Johor have a capacity to administer some 71,000 doses in a day.
"However, with the increase in vaccine supplies and the opening of two other PPVs, we are confident that we could increase the capacity to 90,000 doses a day," he said in a press conference here Sunday (Aug 8).
He added that the two new PPVs are the Iskandar Malaysia Studios PPV and a drive-through PPV at Arena Larkin.
"The drive-through PPV would be for those with disabilities and the elderly," he said, adding that proposals to open PPVs in other districts would also be reviewed.
Khairy, who is also Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, had met earlier with Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Johor Mentri Besar Hasni Mohammad and State Secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani.
