KUALA TERENGGANU: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said his meeting with several top leaders from Perikatan Nasional earlier this week was just a normal meeting.

“It was a normal meeting because I haven’t seen them for a while... I miss them,” he said jokingly to reporters after visiting the vaccination centre at the Islamic Civilisation Park here yesterday.

Muhyiddin was reported to have held a two-hour meeting with several top leaders in Perikatan at the Perdana Putra Complex in Putrajaya on Wednesday.

Asked about his meeting with PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang yesterday afternoon, Muhyiddin said he just wanted to visit the Marang MP.

“Because we know that he (Abdul Hadi) has not been in very good health.

“It has been a while since I last met him (Abdul Hadi)... I really hope he is healthier now so that he can continue discharging his duties for the party and the country,” he said.

Abdul Hadi was admitted to the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur in June.

Bernama’s check at Abdul Hadi’s residence in Rusila, Marang, found that the meeting of the two leaders had taken place at his residence and lasted about an hour.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also said he would announce by next month actions that would be taken against anti-vaccine groups.

He said this was to ensure the country could achieve herd immunity to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“We will study and conduct some research on these groups. It will be decided by the government within this month or next month,” he told reporters after visiting the vaccination centre (PPV) at Taman Tamadun Islam here.

Muhyiddin said the government would first look into the factors behind some people’s refusal to register as a vaccine recipient.

He also did not rule out the possibility of making vaccinations compulsory, adding that teenagers aged 16 and 17 would be vaccinated earlier but only after all eligible adults had been vaccinated.

He announced that Terengganu would receive 590,000 additional doses of Covid-19 vaccine this month.

The Taman Tamadun Islam PPV, which started operating on Tuesday, can accommodate up to 4,000 vaccine recipients at a time and is the third integrated PPV in Terengganu after the Gong Badak Sports Complex and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin. — Bernama
