PETALING JAYA: PAS has given the thumbs up to the “Malaysian Family” concept touted by Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in the Prime Minister’s maiden speech.

       It said the Prime Minister’s approach is meant to unite everyone in facing the Covid-19 pandemic and the current economic crisis.

       PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said that the party also welcomed the newly sworn-in Prime Minister’s offer for the Opposition to be involved in the National Recovery Council (NRC) and the Special Committee on Covid-19.

       “We are in the month of Merdeka. The independence from our colonisers then led to development of the country. Let us all work as a team for our beloved country,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Aug 22).

       Ismail Sabri said that he hoped all Members of the Dewan Rakyat, whether within or outside of the government, would work together for the nation’s recovery.

       “Let us open our minds and hearts to forget our differences by working together. We need to find a common ground and move towards building a consensus for the security and safety of our family, the Malaysian Family. I adapt to the concept of Malaysian Family as this phrase is inclusive in nature,” he said.
