IPOH: The photos of factory workers with pink Covid-19 tags walking around Sungai Siput are actually of the workers heading back for quarantine, say police.

Sungai Siput OCPD Supt Mohd Khaizam Ahmad Shahabudin said the workers had just undergone Covid-19 screening and six of them tested positive.

“The tests were conducted by the Kuala Kangsar district health office on Aug 19.

“According to our investigation, the workers went to a nearby grocery shop to get supplies before undergoing quarantine at their hostel,” he said on Monday (Aug 23).

On Aug 19, several photos showing workers wearing pink tags went viral on social media.

Supt Mohd Khaizam said police found that none of the workers were in breach of Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).

“Our team investigated the matter and we believe that they had not broken any SOP.
