PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded 17,672 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, says the Health Ministry.
Cumulatively, the country has had 1572765 cases since the pandemic began.
Selangor remained the state with the highest number of cases with 4,316 new infections.
Cases in other states are as follows: Sabah (2,474 cases), Kedah (1,602), Sarawak (1,538), Penang (1,451), Johor (1,367), Kelantan (1,176), Perak (952), Kuala Lumpur (891), Pahang (506), Negri Sembilan (478), Terengganu (470), Melaka (363), Perlis (57), Putrajaya (24) and Labuan (seven).
In the same 24-hour span up to 12pm on Monday, 19,053 Covid-19 patients were discharged from treatment.
To date, 1,297,723 people in Malaysia have recovered from Covid-19.
There were 174 deaths, taking the national Covid-19 death toll up to 14,342.
Currently, there are 260,700 active Covid-19 cases nationwide.
Of that total, 1,040 are in intensive care units (ICU) and 502 in need of breathing assistance.
